Hairy Baby

She has lots of hair. Enough said.

It's a boy! :) (She wasn't pleased...)
Bad news is that she'll pull it, sometimes so hard she cries. Good news is that it's hiding her cradle cap well. :)

Summer Snippets

It's been an easy-going summer, and since we have a newborn we've stayed close to home. But we've still had a lot of fun in the sun. :)

Water + friends = a good time. :) This was a birthday party for one of Jaxon's friends. I thought it was such a great idea to set up different pools and just let the kids loose. They had a blast. Good thing my kids have summer birthdays, I might just steal this idea in the future (whenever we have a private yard!).

More pool, more friends. :)

The little princess. She doesn't like pools much, as you can see from the following video...

We've also enjoyed time at the splash pad and rec center pools.

My mom thought it would be fun to rent a bounce house for the grandkids to help celebrate Pioneer Day last month. Jaxon had a blast!

Meet Violet

Violet's almost been here a full month, now. It's fun to compare the similarities and differences between Violet and Jaxon when he was a baby. Violet's a good sleeper, but a LOUD one! She's quite the snorer. Travis says she snores like me. I'm not quite sure what to think about that. Should I take pride in that? Yes. I choose to take pride in that.

Her hair at the sides now reach the bottom of her ears and the back touches the bottom of what little neck she has. It's crazy. I don't even know what to do with it other than put a bow in it for Sundays. I need to start watching YouTube videos of how to do girl hair.

Maybe I just don't remember how Jaxon was at a month, but Violet seems to be a little more clingy than he was. Her cries are definitely more dramatic than Jaxon's were. After a few seconds of "normal" crying, she'll then pitch what sounds like a "drama queen" cry- like the world's going to fall apart. It's pretty sad and adorable at the same time.

Alright, I HAD to get SOMETHING purple for obvious reasons...
She's also been staying awake for longer periods during the day, which has been fun. A week or so ago, Jaxon insisted that Violet draw with him.

Remember those balloons Travis and Jaxon got for us when we got home from the hospital? We had them for a good couple of weeks because I didn't have the heart to get rid of them. So I thought it would be fun to attach a "thank you note to heaven" and let them go that way.

We've loved having a new baby in the home!

Violet Lacee Anderson

We are now a family of four, and couldn't be happier with this beautiful baby girl.

Her squeaks and squeals are adorable and we love cuddling with her. She has long, dark hair and beautiful brown eyes to match. It took a couple days to name her (we finally decided once it was time to go home and we had to turn in the birth certificate form!), but we both knew she was a Violet as soon as we saw her. Which is kind of strange, because we're not the type of people to want to "wait till the baby's born and then see what name fits". We could just never agree on a name before she was born! Violet was Travis's first choice for a name, and I was very unsure (fine, I told him "no"). So, we hadn't even discussed it as an option in recent months. But she just looks like a Violet and I couldn't think of calling her anything else. Don't worry, I very much like the name now. :)

This is me before going into the hospital. I just now realized how big I was. Wow.

Travis and Jaxon decorated the kitchen to welcome us home. Jaxon picked the blue balloon. What a couple of sweet boys.

We are so grateful for this new addition to our family; she brings pure bliss to our home.

Last Pics Before Baby

Here's what we've been up to the last couple of months while getting ready for baby #2...

Warm weather means popsicles, fudge bars, and playing with the hose!

Getting some big brother practice in...

Story-time finished up for the season. Jaxon was particularly tired this day- I love how the girl is looking at him like he's so weird...

Sundays can be a little draining for us, but it's still a day for family bonding. We like to take naps and go on evening walks together.

Jaxon loves the story, "I Know An Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly". He knows it in English and Spanish. Here's a video of Travis reading to him in English with Jaxon filling in the words. Sorry the quality isn't great, I just grabbed my phone.

I love this little boy. :)

Goodbye Baby Blues

I don't think we can officially say Jaxon has blue eyes anymore. Over the past year they've slowly turned more green. But I'm okay with that and, frankly, kind of expected it. After all, I'm still shocked that we have a kid who doesn't have brown eyes like his mom and dad. Looks like Jaxon just likes to defy the odds. :)

Sometimes they change color (anywhere between gray-blue to hazel), depending on the lighting, or color he's wearing (today he wore a green shirt and it made his eyes look very green), or even his mood, I've noticed.

But it's fun to look back and see just how blue they used to be.

Easter 2014

In preparation for Easter, Jaxon enjoyed a couple different Easter egg hunts with friends and family. He seemed to better understand the concept of finding the eggs this year than he did last year. Travis and I check his candy frequently to see if it tastes alright.

Yesterday, we had stake conference and Jaxon donned his new Easter outfit. What a handsome boy we have. :)

After church, Jaxon and I napped and Travis prepared our ham. This year we invited my parents and single siblings over for Easter dinner. Jaxon certainly loved all the attention and sang them the alphabet in English and Spanish.

We're so grateful for this beautiful time of year when everything is coming to life. We're especially grateful for the resurrection and what that means for our little growing family.
