The Daily Grind

Talmage has gotten into dinosaurs lately...

Stake conference, aka, Travis' day off.

Say it ain't so!

Ginger wanted to play in the school talent show. She worked very hard!

Violet's 5th grade wax museum.

Moments where you think...should I stop this?

Five little monkeys jumping on the tramp.

Ivy kindergarten class also had a wax museum!

Fun times at the cabin.

Violet and Ginger competed at Reach for the Peaks, they both did wonderfully!

Chinese New Year

I've decided to make this a "thing" in our home. It's a pretty big deal at school (think a second Christmas celebration), so might as well bring it home and celebrate it with a Chinese dinner.

We were delighted Zyanya could join us. She's practically our adopted daughter. One rule during dinner, however- you can only speak Chinese! It wasn't a problem for most of them. Ivy's excited to start learning next year.

Ginger's Baptism

Ginger had a very special birthday in December- she turned 8! Can't believe how fast this girl is growing. She was so excited to be baptized!

It was a cold January day when we went to take photos, but she was a good sport putting her coat on and off..

We love our Ginger. She has such a kind heart and is very compassionate and considerate of others. If ever I'm going through a stressful time, she'll be the first to reach out- "Mom, I'm sorry you're having a hard day. Is there something I can do for you?" Such a sweet day for such a Christlike child.

Christmas 2024

The girls' Christmas skate program is a great way to enjoy the holiday season! They did a great job and skated to "I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas".

Violet and her friends set up a hot cocoa stand the last day of Christmas break. They were out for 2 hours and got $35. Violet kept it up after her friends went home and kept earning till it was too dark for any cars to see her anymore.

Before we knew it, it was Christmas Eve. We went to Mamie and Papa's that evening and the kids immediately gravitated towards their "twin".

After a yummy meal of appetizers, we sang out favorite Christmas songs and opened presents from Mamie and Papa.

The next morning, the kids woke up to the bells of Christmas! I, sadly, was either too tired or too distracted to get a lot of pictures, but it was fun all around!

Ivy was so excited to get her number one item on her list- a lunch bag!

Jaxon got his garbage can for his room.

I love to see the love. :)

Unfortunately, Violet and Talmage got bad colds around this time and we spent the next couple of days resting. Once the worst had past, we headed to the cabin for the week.

We love the Christmas season, the reason we celebrate it, and we love spending it all with each other.

The Every Day

I suppose this is more of a photo dump of the every day life. But it's important, nonetheless.

Talmage and I have somewhat of a schedule throughout the week. He loves Tuesdays because that's when we go to...

Sometimes we'll stop by the bookstore and share a jalapeno bagel or a chocolate milk.

We also love Thursdays because that's when we go to Mamie's house and play with cousins! Talmage has really grown close to Lemon this school year. He'll do anything for her.

Ginger has been in speech therapy this year from the BYU Speech Clinic. She is doing so great, and her therapists love her so much. She loved how her fall therapist had the same name as her middle name!

We had a very fun and yummy Thanksgiving dinner at Danielle's house!

Travis always makes sure the youth are taken care of and are exposed to quality mutual activities. They went ice skating before Christmas. For most of them it was their first time on the ice!

No, this isn't a Halloween photo, it was post Thanksgiving. Just it just typical.

It's hard when your kid asks for a grappling hook for the second year in a row. She didn't get the fridge, either. Or the harness. Violet is definitely a free spirit.

One morning I caught Jaxon just playing with Talmage before he went to school. I really appreciate their close relationship, despite their age difference. Jaxon loves to play with Talmage most days after school. Talmage can't wait for him to come home.

Speaking of Jaxon, he's just loving middle school. He is involved in Latinos en Accion and every week they tutor students at a local elementary school. You'll notice his headlamp. Sigh...yes, that's him.

He's still doing the cello thing (in the back!)...

Oh, and I should also note that I got a job! Honestly, it's not a big gig. As a Spanish storyteller, I work 5 hours a week. It's definitely doable. right up my alley, and gets me out of the house.

And we had a Christmas piano recital to get the Christmas season going. :)

Halloween 2024

We had a spooky Halloween! Violet was a werewolf, Ginger a ghost, Ivy a cat, and Talmage was a... witch, I think. After digging through the costume box, he was insistent on the vampire cape and witch's hat, so we'll go with witch.

Earlier that day, the kids had their Halloween parade!

That evening we had hot dogs and homemade rootbeer at Mamie and Papa's with cousins. Then it was out to grab some candy! I love this tradition going trick or treating with cousins. Every time they think of Halloween they'll always tie it in with their cousins.

Jaxon was invited to go trick or treating with another friend while we were gone, so he stayed behind this time. As far as what he dressed as...your guess is as good as mine. He didn't even have an answer. But that's just Jaxon for you.

He did have fun, though! We all did.
